I’ve had it thrown in my face a few times and honestly just didnt bother to check the sources, because its easy to argue from the position that its a real quote anyway.
However upon further investigation I cannot find a primary source for this, so take it what you will. Reportedly it’s from 1922 which would be 2 years before Lenin’ death, and we know how often people just make up things for Lenin to say, even within the USSR cough Zinoviev cough
They were trying to say he did support mussolini/fascism, but even if the quote was real that’s still so easy to shoot down that I just didn’t bother to fact check it

Why would they throw it in your face? It is not like Lenin upheld fascism or anything.
It does seem like a somewhat suspicious quote to me, so that makes sense.
