good marketing does not require maximizing it, I think. I see where you’re coming from though, any effort spent on marketing could have been spent to create a better product. Having the perfect product is useless when nobody knows about it, though, so as always there is a balance to achieve.

I think you mentioned a keyword you’re ignoring here: product. This enshittification happens in a commercial environment. Good marketing does not require a commercial product.

I just said I have. I have to agree the cars without power steering I drove did feel less safe, but not because of a lack of power steering. Instead I think they felt that way because they were old and had worn out bushings, giving me less control over the steering. This has nothing to do with power steering.

If someone hit you while going slow neither of you were paying attention. This will happen with power steering, too.

ABS is much more important and provides way more benefit than power steering does.

Have you ever driven a small car without power steering?

I used to drive a small hatchback without power steering, once you’re going walking speeds it is easy enough to steer. It’s really only a problem when standing still or driving super slow (not a danger to anyone).
