Technology@lemmy.world•“Not Ready for Prime Time.” A Federal Tool to Check Voter Citizenship Keeps Making Mistakes: SAVE tool keeps mistakenly flagging voters as noncitizensEnglish
1·3 days agoAgain, I totally agree and think you’re right. I don’t want to sit back, but no one has a realistic answer. They have nice answers that they hope someone does, but we dont have a unified voice saying this is what we are doing.

Technology@lemmy.world•Instagram boss: 16 hours of daily use is not addictionEnglish
11·3 days agoThat still sounds misleading. He was not speaking for 16 hours of use which is what the headline suggests. As other has stated, I hope those companies crumble but I think honesty is important, not sensationalization.

2·3 days agoI think many people are aware of this, but what do you DO. There are laws and expectations of civilized society. On both sides. You become the first person to raise some form of resistance I highly doubt the majority will welcome you with open arms. No, likely you will be seen by everyone as a cult leader, an anarchist, or at best, someone who snapped and refused to follow the rules of society.
The real people who need to take action are elected officials. Mayors and governors need to stand up and say “my people will not be used for this, and you cannot force us.” The fact that yhese events that you are very aware of were able to happen were entirely due to the lack of responsible leadership, not that some people didnt grab their handgun and form a resistance group of 20 people to fight a fully armed surveillance police state.
I agree with you, its awful, I dont want to sit back and let things happen but what, realistically in modern society, do you do.

Technology@lemmy.world•Western Digital runs out of HDD capacity: CEO says massive AI deals secured, price surges aheadEnglish
40·5 days agoIt may be a little tinfoil hat like, but you cannot convince me that these companies are shoving AI in literally everything, buying all the hardware in existence, and building data centets on land that no one wants them at, just to “make a better ai for the consumer.” I believe this is an attempt at hardcore tracking and surveillence.

Technology@lemmy.world•Google criticizes Europe's plan to adopt free softwareEnglish
6·6 days agoThis is like a “no shit Google doesn’t want this” which makes moving over to the Euro style even better. Everyone opposed to what huge tech corporations are doing (should be everyone) should see this as a sign that you should make the change.

Yeah now it is yet another potential war with another country and aliens.
