18·18 hours agoLook, I’m tired of Jefferies smug “I tweeted about it, what more do you want” face, but I do want to call out a bit of a hypocrisy I’m seeing here on Lemmy.
Theres a bunch of folks clamoring about how they want Democrats to focus on trying to fix things and not just waste time on impeachment, but then Jefferies says that’s what he’s gonna do and everyone is back to WHAT ABOUT IMPEACHMENT.
Personally I’m a fan of the walk and chew approach of doing both, but seeing a lot of people bickering about what Democrats should do for the next two years as if nothing they do will be sufficient.
For me, for now, I’m just glad we slowed the bleeding.
Reminder that gay marriage failed in California back in '08.
People will come around, but it takes time to overcome ignorance at this scale.
For now, it’s on all of us to do what we can to support the community and highlight how these injustices impact real people - hate thrives on ignorance.
3·2 days agoMy home loan is less than that and it already hurts to pay every month. With a second big loan, I’d have to declare bankruptcy.
Now if this is a gift of free money - I’d pay off that damn home loan so it’s one less thing to worry about. Remaining balance on the $1M would probably get invested in the hopes that I could push forward my retirement by a couple of decades.
4·2 days agoThis doesn’t at all answer your question, but Handbrake has always frustrated me by being aggressively opaque.
Like if you’re not trying to encode something to run on an iPod Nano from 2007, the presets are all arbitrary and wacky, and it gives you very little control over the underlying commands.
I GREATLY prefer StaxRip. It strikes the right balance for transparency, automation, and configuration for me. Closest thing to working with commands from scratch, without all of the headache. Only downside is it’s only built for Windows.

A cursed rock that talks to you and demands sacrifices. After being thrown returns to your inventory in 6 seconds (start of your next turn)
Could do fun things like player can cast spells through the rock like a familiar.
It’s been a while since I studied etymology, but IIRC its original roots were associated with a sperm whale and a bowl of petunias as they fell from the skies.
SMS messages are broadcast in plain text often through multiple carriers’ networks and I find it impossible to believe they aren’t already processing them for a myriad of things anyways. Hell, 20 years ago they were storing them and including them in your phone bill. This is just one more filter to run them through.
2·3 days agoCan signal handle separate conversations between two people? Wouldn’t want to clutter our texts with a grocery list.
Any tips on a “grocery list” app to replace Keep? Need something that can sync between mine and my wife’s phones - E2EE nice to have but not strictly required.
A lot of the Keep replacements I see posted are just fancy text editors full of markdown formatting junk and I just want a good working checklist that moves checked items away.
Not saying it’s a good thing, but wacky people can’t seem to comprehend that it’s possible for more… Let’s call them traditional Democrats could be turned off by Leftists, than there are Leftists turned off by Democrats.
Either way though, Republicans profit from the infighting to the left and people’s inability to compromise.

11·5 days agoMy Pixel 7 would have to catch fire to get me to upgrade. Google is clearly trying to run the pixels into the ground. I’ll give it another couple of years then probably switch to Motorola if they still support GrapheneOS.
The 10 added… magnetic Qi2 charging
A $3 metal sticker can allow any phone to use all the new magnetic doohickeys on the market. The wireless charger isn’t 25W, but if you want to charge quickly you should plug in anyways.
I use one of those stickers on my phone and the Anker qi2 battery packs work perfectly fine (albeit a little slow)
I don’t think the damage done by the current US administration is limited to the borders of any single country, but society at large.
Which are just petrol/diesel but wearing a moustache for disguise.
